Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about Refill Earth's mission, game, accounts, groups, classroom use, accessibility, and support.

What is Refill Earth?

Refill Earth is an educational browser question game designed for school and home use. It explores the water systems behind AI, data centers, communities, and everyday life. Players answer questions, fill five-step cups, and grow a shared clean-water game total while learning how technology and water connect.

What happens when I answer a question?

Choose a grade band and category, then select one of four answers. A correct answer adds 10 drops, and five correct answers fill a 50-drop cup. A wrong answer shows the correct choice, removes no progress, and the game continues automatically.

What do drops and cups represent?

Drops and cups are game progress, not liters, gallons, dollars, donations, or measured project outcomes. The public total is not a donation receipt, and Refill Earth does not assign a public money or water-volume value to each answer.

Can I play without an account?

Yes. Anonymous play is available, and accepted correct answers still count toward the shared total. A verified account lets you keep eligible progress across visits and create or join groups.

How do groups and leaderboards work?

A verified player can belong to more than one invite-only group but chooses one active group at a time. Accepted correct answers count toward the group selected when the question was issued. Public leaderboards show a username or group name, rank, drops, and cups. Players can turn off their own leaderboard visibility in Profile, while email addresses, invite codes, member lists, raw answers, and individual accuracy stay out of public leaderboard results.

How can a teacher use Refill Earth with a class?

With a verified account, a teacher can create an invite-only classroom group, choose grade and category settings, share a private invitation, and follow aggregate group progress. Students can play anonymously, but they need a verified account to join the group and save progress. Schools with privacy, procurement, or deployment questions should use the Contact page before adopting it.

Does sponsorship affect the game or its questions?

No. Play is ad-free, and sponsor content does not appear in questions, answers, or player panels. Donation details and sponsor inquiries stay on the separate Sponsors page.

Can I play on a phone, tablet, or computer?

Yes. Refill Earth runs in your web browser, so no download is required. The interface includes semantic controls, keyboard navigation, visible focus, reduced-motion support, large touch targets, and readable layouts. WCAG 2.2 AA is the target, not a formal conformance claim.

How do I report a question or technical problem?

Use the Contact page and describe the question or problem as clearly as you can. You can also report an accessibility barrier, privacy concern, or security issue there. Do not include student personal information in a general support message.
